This was the original "Pear" painting, starting off a series of small works that followed in kind. I liked the way the
texture and color of the pears contrasted with the dark, rich background. The ribbon created a airy, whimsical aspect to my
paintings that have become a staple in my work.

The china in this painting was a major find at an estate sale. They weren't in perfect condition, but the detailed illustrations
in each piece was what really caught my eye. I've used them in several paintings and cherish them in all their "beat up" glory.
